How it works

Three steps from install to a labelled storefront

No developer, no theme edits. Aivio ships as a theme app embed and a bulk editor inside your Shopify admin.

  1. Enable the app embed

    Turn on “Aivio AI badges” under Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds. Nothing to paste into your theme, nothing to maintain.

  2. Label images in bulk

    Select products in the bulk editor and mark their images as AI-generated or AI-edited in seconds. Original files stay untouched.

  3. The badge appears in every storefront language

    The visible, accessible badge follows your storefront language automatically – German, English, French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch.

    An overlay with icon, label and info tooltip. Keyboard-operable, screen-reader friendly, forced-colours safe.

  • Bulk editor: label images as AI-generated or AI-edited in seconds

    Filter products, select images, apply a label to all of them at once. Undo any time – originals are never modified.

  • Theme editor design: style, position, colours, live contrast check

    Three styles, four corners, separate desktop and mobile settings. The contrast checker warns below 4.5:1.

  • Provenance: IPTC/XMP + signed C2PA manifest, 90-day EU backup

    Optionally embed machine-readable marks into the original file and publish a public record page per image.

Where Aivio fits

Badge and provenance address two different duties

Visible badge – Article 50(4): the visible disclosure of AI-generated or AI-edited images is a duty of the deployer, i.e. the merchant. The badge is designed for exactly this disclosure.

Provenance – Article 50(2): machine-readable marking is mainly a duty of AI providers. Aivio offers it as an optional extra. It does not replace the visible badge.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to change my theme code?

No. Aivio ships as a theme app embed. You enable it once in the theme editor; the badge is injected as an overlay on labelled product images. Uninstalling the app removes it again.

Are my original image files modified?

The badge is an overlay in the storefront – your files stay untouched. Only the optional Provenance module writes metadata into a signed copy, and it keeps a backup of the original for 90 days.

What is the difference between the badge and Provenance?

The badge is the visible disclosure for shoppers (Article 50(4), a deployer duty). Provenance adds machine-readable IPTC/XMP metadata and a C2PA manifest (Article 50(2), mainly a provider duty). Provenance is optional and does not replace the badge.

Which languages are supported?

The admin app and the badges are available in German, English, French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch. The badge automatically follows the storefront language.

Where is my data stored?

The app runs on Vercel in Frankfurt; database and file backups are on Supabase in Frankfurt. Aivio does not process personal data of your shop customers, and all data is deleted when you uninstall.

How does billing work?

Through Shopify Billing, monthly or yearly with a 10 % yearly discount. Every plan includes all features – plans only differ in the number of labelled images. You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel in your Shopify admin.
